Athough I have never taken the trolley tour, many people recommend it. They feel that it is a good way to get an overview of what Provincetown has to offer. From 10am to 4pm, the trolleys leave every half-hour from Town Hall on Commercial Street, and tour the National Seashore and other interesting sites for about 40 minutes. Evening tours leave on the hour, starting at 5pm. The drivers narrate the interesting P-town history, and point out historic landmarks. You can see the trolleys maneuvering through the streets of Provincetown.
There is one tour that I have taken and that I do recommend and that is Art’s Dune Tours. They are located right in the center of the town at the corner of Commercial and Standish. Originally, I thought it looked like a real rip off and incredibly corny. Then one summer, Jim was on crutches and we needed to come up with something to do with the kids that he could also do. We decided to give it a try. It was great! It is a way to get out on the beaches without walking. You will see a part of the Province Lands that you can see no other way. The kids will love the way the SUV maneuvers through the sand, up and down hills. You will see in the distance the famous dune shacks, hear historical information about the Somerset and the Peaked Hill Sand Bars off the coast that has ensnared too many boats.
